Endometrial cancer is one of the most common forms of gynecological cancer and is usually detected in its early stages, allowing for effective treatments. Surgery is the main therapeutic approach for its treatment. Main Surgical Options:
- Hysterectomy: Removal of the uterus, and often the ovaries and fallopian tubes, to eliminate cancer.
- Lymphadenectomy: Removal of lymph nodes to control the spread of cancer.
- Robotic Surgery: Minimally invasive method with faster recovery and smaller scars.
- Laparoscopic Surgery: Similar to robotics, with small incisions and quick recovery.
The choice of method depends on the stage of the cancer and the patient's condition. Your doctor will guide you in choosing the appropriate treatment.
Endometrial cancer is one of the most common forms of gynecological cancer and is usually detected in its early stages, allowing for effective treatment. Surgery is the main treatment approach for its treatment. Treatment usually includes hysterectomy: Removal of the uterus and ovaries and fallopian tubes, often with lymphadenectomy, i.e. removal of lymph nodes to control the spread of cancer to them. The sentinel lymph node technique can be applied, in which fewer lymph nodes are removed after staining them with a special dye (ICG) and using a special camera.
Now, with few exceptions, this operation can be performed with minimally invasive methods such as laparoscopy and robotic surgery, which are superior to the classic open method with a large incision (laparotomy) as they offer faster recovery and smaller scars.
The final choice of method depends on several factors and your doctor will guide you in choosing the appropriate treatment.
